Stallion 3D - Analyze Complex 3D Shapes Directly on Your PC.

Ask us a question about Stallion 3D.

Stallion 3D makes three dimensional aerodynamics analysis and design automatic  and straightforward for users who are not specialists in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Stallion 3D features built-in design tools, .stl geometry import, automatic grid generation of complex surfaces and built-in graphics.

Because Stallion 3D grid generation process is automated, simulation of complex three-dimensional shapes becomes easy and routine for non-CFD specialists. Automatic gridding is easy and accurate due to our novel cartesian grid scheme that detects internal boundaries (even thin surfaces) and applies accurate boundary conditions. This ensures that all geometric elements are accounted for before the analysis run.

A powerful feature of Stallion 3D is its ability to read-in and grid .STL files from any CAD or CAE software package. The software allows you to import .STL files for direct analysis or in combination with geometries created within the program.

Stallion 3D features a built-in geometry creation engine with thousands of airfoil shapes (NACA 4, 5 & 6-digit airfoils).  This allows you to design and analyze complex multiple wings without the need for an external CAD package. You can also read-in your MultiSurface Aerodynamics (or 3DFoil) projects and analyze them (without changes) in Stallion 3D.

You do not have to purchase additional software to load or view your project. Stallion 3D has built-in graphs and contour plots so you can visualize your results. Stallion 3D also exports the .stl and .DXF files for rapid manufacturing.

Compressible Flow Solver

  • 3-dimensional compressible Euler equations using a finite-volume solver
  • 1st and 2nd order flux vector splitting
  • 4-stage Runge-Kutta time marching scheme using local time steps
  • Automatic cartesian grid generation for arbitrary multiple body placement.
  • Plots of pressure, Mach number, temperature & total pressure
  • Surface plots of Cp, Mach number, velocity ratio & temperature
  • Computation of overall lift, drag & moment coefficients about arbitrary locations on and off the bodies.
  • Computation of lift, drag & moment coefficient for each shape.

Airplane and UAV Applications

  • Subsonic, transonic, supersonic wings and bodies
  • Effect of fuselage, nacelles and stores on wing performance
  • Bi-planes, tri-plane and joined wing analysis
  • Capable of analyzing fuselage, underbelly, tails
  • Complex wing configurations such as winglets, endplates and drag-reduction devices

Automotive and Racing Applications

  • Total aerodynamic coefficients for enclosed, open-wheel and sedan type racing cars

  • Total aerodynamic coefficients for commercial cars

  • Flow visualization (streamlines, contour graphs & line graphs)

  • Ground effect without mirroring the car (See the true interaction between the car and road)

  • Multi-vehicle interactions (How your car performs with other cars surrounding it)

  • Analyze the performance of diffusers

  • Test unique and basic wing shapes of spoilers, strakes, wickers and flat plates

  • Analyze the cascade effect of mulitple wings

  • Lateral stability (Reduce the dangers of strong sidewinds)

  • Longitudinal stability (Reduce uncontrollable pitches while racing)

  • Analyze configurations for induction, cooling and braking

  • Analyze venturi flow devices and their effects on the car

Education

Ideal for students studying aeronautical, marine and mechanical disciplines.  Students will quickly  able to fully analyze their CAD designs and obtain accurate CFD results.

  • Extremely low learning curve (A student can literally load their case in a few minutes)

  • Excellent tool for students new to CFD analysis and those in advanced graduate studies

  • Introduce, analyze and demonstrate entire  body concepts  (Not just "Bits and Pieces" of a structure)

  • No concern of students incorrectly gridding a complex geometry

  • Ease of program facilitates independent learning and research

  • Automatic graph results is extremely useful for understanding and validating data

  • Capstone projects

  • Individual or class/lab leases available

Other Features of Stallion 3D

  • Compressible flow solver based on Euler Equations
  • Computes Cl, Cd & Cm
  • Built-in graphs
  • Built-in tables
  • Export tables to .csv files
  • Export airfoil to .dxf files
