Hanley Announces MultiElement Airfoil Analysis Software
OCALA, Florida, October 11, 2002 - Hanley Innovations, a small business
specializing in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics software development for
education and industry, announced today the release of Dr. Hanleys
Aerodynamics: MultiElement Airfoils, a user-friendly software package for
the conceptual design and analysis of airfoils and bodies in close proximity
to each other. MultiElement Airfoils runs on a PC under Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP.
MultiElement Airfoils is intended for use as a conceptual design/analysis
tool for the professional engineering and educational communities. The software
can be used to rapidly create 2-D models and generate insight into many relevant
engineering problems. For example, high lift wing configurations, race car
spoilers in ground effect, biplane wings, double keel/rudder configurations,
hydrofoils in shallow water, sail interactions and many other problems can
be easily modeled with this tool.
A unique feature of MultiElement Airfoils is the Interactive
AirfoilEditor. AirfoilEditor allows users to add an airfoil to any
location in the flow field simply by double-clicking at the desired location.
A pop-up dialog box allows users to select from NACA 4, 5 & 6-digit airfoils,
the UIUC airfoil database library or their own custom shapes. Airfoils can
be rotated to any independent angle, scaled, flipped or given a number of
attributes to facilitate the solution or flow visualization. Airfoils already
in the flow field can be edited or deleted by double-clicking on the shapes.
MultiElement Airfoils produces graphs of the surface pressure coefficient
and velocity ratio for each airfoil. It can also graph the lift, drag and
moment coefficients versus angle of attack and the lift-drag polar for a
complete array of airfoils. A screen copy of the graphs can be printed, saved
as bitmap files (.bmp) or copied to the clipboard and pasted into any MS
Windows application. MultiElement Airfoils can also produce a table of results
at each angle of attack which can be printed or saved on disk.
The introductory price of the software is $995.00. It can be purchased online
and obtained electronically from:
