Hanley Announces AeroTrajectory, Version 1.0
OCALA, Florida, July 29, 2002 - Hanley Innovations, a small business specializing
in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics software development for education and
industry, announced today the release of Dr. Hanleys AeroTrajectory,
a user-friendly software package for computing the trajectory of objects
subjected to aerodynamics forces during flight. AeroTrajectory runs on a
PC under Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP.
AeroTrajectory is intended for use in classroom as a virtual lab tool at
the K-12 and undergraduate levels. It is an indispensable reference tool
for engineers, scientists, designers and other physics enthusiasts.
The user can enter a lift and drag coefficient along with a reference area
to simulate the aerodynamic forces. Also required is the medium density,
wind speed and direction, the objects mass and the acceleration due
to gravity (i.e. simulations can be done on Mars or other planets). The user
can set initial conditions on the object Velocity, Height, Range and Simulation
Start Time. Furthermore, the user can set a Net Thrust and Normal Force at
(y=0). The Normal Force condition sets an optional boundary condition along
the x-axis where the objects weight can be supported. This was done
to simulate the Take Off of an airplane.
AeroTrajectory has a dialog box that allows the user to select the stop
conditions of the simulation. For example, the user can stop the simulation
at a specific time, height (descending or ascending) or range. The user can
also start the simulations again by clicking a button in the Input dialog
box to automatically capture the end conditions of the last simulation and
set them as the new initial conditions.
The retail price of AeroTrajectory is $45.00. The software can be purchased
online and obtained electronically from:
